Xarra (pronounced "CHA-rra") comes from a Valencian/Catalan word meaning "to chat" or "to talk".

The name Mestre, meaning "teacher" or "master" in Valencian/Catalan, reflects the app's goal to support people who share knowledge, whether on social media, in a classroom, in an online course, or during a code walkthrough.
